My name is Amy Mattingly and I am a Marion County native. My parents are Steve and LouAnn Thompson, both of Marion County. In 2004, I married Kurt Mattingly and we have three amazing little girls. Mia, Molly, Murphy. I graduated from Marion County High in 1997, University of Kentucky in 2002 (Bachelor’s in Middle School Education, Math & Language Arts), and Eastern Kentucky University in 2007 (Master’s in Instructional Leadership, principal’s certificate). I also recently became National Board Certified in Early Adolescent English/Language Arts. So as you can see, I love teaching and more importantly, LEARNING! I began my teaching career in Lexington, KY at Crawford Middle School in 2002. In 2004, I moved back to Lebanon and accepted at position at St. Charles in English/Language Arts and taught there for 10 years. In early 2014, I made the decision to coach cheerleading again at the high school level and transferred to MCHS to coach and teach English.
My goal is to create, enhance and foster the athletics within the cheer program at MCHS. I additionally hope to change the negative stereotype that has cast a shadow over what cheering is all about for both females and males for years. We as a team will strive to promote success in and outside the classroom, on and off the field and court.
