Winter Formal

Marion County Knight Academy
2017 Winter Formal Dress Code

Why do we have a dress code?

The MCKA administration and staff wants you to make good choices.  We are not trying to inhibit your individual style. Winter formal should be fun and memorable, but we also want everyone to be comfortable, safe, classy, and show Knight pride.   With modesty and safety in mind, the following dress code will be enforced at the MCKA Winter Formal.  Failure to adhere to the dress code will prevent your participation in the event.

  1. Dresses must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee.  Dresses may not have slits that go higher than 3 inches above the knee.

  2. The tops of all dresses must fully cover the breast area.  Excessive cleavage is not allowed.  Sleeves or straps are not required, but please ensure the top is adequate to cover and support.

  3. Backless is permitted but should not expose area below the bra line.

  4. At no point on the dress should any part of the midriff or side be exposed.

  5. Jackets, sweaters or other garments may not be used to cover a dress which is inappropriate.

  1. Gentlemen are expected to wear dress slacks, collared dress shirt, dress shoes or boots.  In addition, they should wear either a tie, bowtie, vest, or sport coat/suit jacket.

  2. Shirts must have sleeves and must remain on.

  3. No jeans, hats, bandanas, canes, combat boots, slippers, tennis shoes, camo, or shorts.

Please keep these guidelines in mind as you shop for your dress/attire.  You will not be allowed to participate in the Winter Formal if you are not dressed appropriately.  No refund will be issued for dress code violation or attire deemed inappropriate.  If you have any specific questions about the formal dress code please see Ms. Goff or Ms. Brady for clarification.
