Goatley receives "Encourage the Heart" acknowledgement Goatley -- encourage the heart

Glasscock Elementary teacher Daily Goatley received this year’s first “Encourage the Heart” acknowledgement this week from Chief Academic Officer Tammy Newcome.

School principals were asked to select a teacher and write a handwritten note of appreciation and encouragement.  Goatley’s note, written by Glasscock Elementary principal Angie Akers, was selected, and Goatley received a surprise visit from Newcome who presented her with the note and an “Encourage the Heart” t-shirt.

“Encourage the Heart” is one of the five practices outlined in The Leadership Challenge -- a book focusing on developing strong leadership, which the MCPS Leadership Team is currently studying.

Transportation Changes

Just a reminder that Glasscock Elementary School no longer accepts transportation changes over the phone.  Because we are unable to witness that the person we are talking to is the parent/guardian, or generate any written record of the request, this becomes a safety concern for our students.   Without question, our number one concern is your child’s safety.

Be part of the MUSIC!

5th grade students have the opportunity to embark on an awesome journey with music! Students who are interested can sign up for band. Have students talk with their music teacher about how they can sign up for band for the 2017 school year.
