At the recent Reading Celebration night at West Marion Elementary School, there was a bevy of student-created artwork on display throughout the school including in the foyer and the school’s library.
However, those aren’t the only places you can see WMES handiwork. Art teacher Annette Jones makes use of the website www.artsonia.com -- a website where students can upload images of their art and create their very own online art gallery.
WMES student artwork can be found on the website www.artsonia.com
Visitors to the website can search for “West Marion Elementary” on the site’s landing page and see all of the artwork that has been uploaded.
To have their artwork on the website, students need parental permission, and Jones said she hopes to add to the online collection throughout the year.
At the Reading Celebration, student artwork lined the top of shelves in the library and covered the walls in the foyer. The pieces came from projects students have completed throughout the year and included clay sculptures, paintings, and woven bowls.
Jones said she hopes to have student artwork on display at art shows at least two more times throughout the school year.
