What is a Non-Traditional School Day?
A Non-Traditional School Day is a method of delivering instruction for ALL students on a day when school buildings are not accessible due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., snow days). Teachers have the opportunity to maintain an online presence for content delivery or provide a hard copy of work for students without technology or network resources. The result is decreased loss of instructional time and an increased ability to continue learning content.
“We have a wonderful opportunity that will be a learning process,” said MCPS Superintendent Taylora Schlosser. “Just like with anything, we will find out what works and what doesn’t. We remain determined to deliver a guaranteed viable curriculum and make student dreams come true every single day.”
Should the district elect to use a Non-Traditional Instruction Day, all media announcements will reflect that decision. NTID assignments are presently available online at www.marion.kyschools.us and information has been sent home with students by their classroom teachers. All students without Internet access receive printed copies of their assignments to keep at home. Please contact your child’s school for more information.
“We will still operate with the same plan with No School, Delay, and Plan B options,” said Superintendent Schlosser. “If we unfortunately have an extreme event, however, the NTID program could be used.”
