$921.63...that's the amount of money seven children I had the pleasure of meeting have raised for their school! How amazing is it that these Northern Elementary School students have taken it upon themselves to raise the money necessary for their school to have computer programs like Brain POP, Reading Eggs, and Study Island!
The students have said that if they don't raise the money, the school will lose access to these great learning tools. But, clearly these students are not willing to let this happen on their watch! They have produced various videos, calendars, t-shirts, and much more to sell in their school store! In order to produce these amazing products, they have held events like school wide acrostic poem competitions, photography competitions, and much more! Because the students are responsible for the school store, they learn business principles, and are in charge of all daily transactions, as well as keeping track of the product inventory. So, while raising money for their school in making these amazing products, the students are also featuring their peers' work. These pieces of work by students in their school are used to make memorabilia that can be cherished forever.
While making this huge impact on their school, the students are also learning how to use multiple types of technology like video editing programs, artsonia, cricut, scrapbook deluxe, computers, cameras, and Microsoft programs. Students develop writing skills and a love for literacy, as well as learn the art of photography and art appreciation. All these skills combined assist the students in meeting the requirements of the program review for arts and humanities and writing.
These amazing entrepreneurs have set an impressive goal for themselves to raise $3,000! Wow! That is truly astonishing, that 3rd-5th graders are setting this awesome goal, and trust me, after my experience with these youngsters, they are bound and determined to make it!!!
