P.E. Mission Statement: Creating physically active individuals at CES and beyond!

P.E. Vision Statement: Students will gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

 

P.E. days are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Please remember that students need clothes appropriate for physical activity and tennis shoes on P.E. days. Please contact Mrs. Dickerson if you need assistance purchasing tennis shoes for your child.

 

What are students doing this month?

Kindergarten and First Grade: We are working our way through the alphabet with PE activities in Mrs. Smith's, Mrs. Caldwell's, and Mrs. Spalding's classes. Here are the letters and activities we've done so far:

  • A is for animal
  • B is for bowling
  • C is for Career Stations
  • D is for dancing and dodging
  • E is for exercise
  • F is for fitness
  • G is for goals
  • H is for Holiday (Christmastime fun!)

2nd Grade: We are working on understanding fitness and how to improve our fitness with a variety of activities.

3rd-5th Grades: We are re-testing our fitness testing to see how we're growing. Students participate in the following tests:

  • Push up test - to measure upper body strength and endurance
  • Curl-up test - to measure abdominal strength and endurance
  • Pacer test - to measure aerobic capacity and cardiovascular endurance 
  • Sit and reach test - to measure hamstring and lower back flexibility
