Library Mission Statement:

The Glasscock Library Media Center is providing opportunities for members of the school community to become successful learners by:

* Instilling a love for reading and an appreciation for literature.
* Providing resources to meet informational and recreational reading needs.
* Promoting effective, efficient and ethical use of information.
* Collaborating with individuals in the school community.
* Encouraging an active, ongoing use of the Library Media Center through creative, flexible programming.

Library Objectives:

* To provide opportunites for students to browse, explore and utilize all resources of the Library Media Center.
* To provide teachers with opportunities to incorporate Library Media Center resources into the curriculum.
* To provide students with assistance needed in carrying out research-based learning assignments and activities.
* To provide students and teachers with an atmosphere conducive to active, constructive learning.
* To facilitate the love of learning.

Library Information:

All GES class will come to the Library two to three times a week. We will check out books on the second class of the week (see schedule below). We will be having two book fairs this year, our first one will be September 19 - 23, 2016 and the second one will be February 27 - March 3, 2017.

Check out Policy/Procedures:

  1. K-1 students may check out one book each week.
  2. 2-5 students may check out 2 books each week.
  3. Students will not get to check out books if they forget to return their borrowed book(s) until they return it.
  4. Students may ask their teachers to return a book early if they finish it and will be allowed to get a new one, if Mrs. Morgeson is available to do so.
  5. If a student loses their library book, it is the parent’s responsibility to pay for the book.  Students will not be allowed to check out a book until the book is paid for.
  6. Students are not to share their library books with other students.  If a book is in your child’s name then you and your child is responsible for the book.
  7. If a book is damaged beyond repair in your child’s care, the book will need to be paid for so we can replace it.
  8. After a written note has been sent home in binder, you will receive an email so that I know you are notified of lost books.
