Regular school attendance is essential to your child’s progress. Please make have your child here every day by 8:16. If your child gets here at 8:17 it is tardy. School ends at 3:02, if your child leaves school any earlier it is a tardy. Any time your child is not in school you must send a note. You should send in a Doctor’s note, or a parent note. You are allowed to have 5 parent notes.
Beginning in a few weeks, a binder will be sent home with your child every day. It will contain any information that is being sent home from the school, your child's daily papers, class information, and behavior notes. Please check this binder every day, and initial the calendar box on the behavior calendar every day. Your initials will show us that you have reviewed the binder, including any information sent home and the behavior mark. Your child must bring this binder back to school each morning. If the binder becomes damaged or gets lost, please send a new one to school as soon as you are able.
Birthdays are important to young children. We will recognize each child’s birthday in the classroom by singing Happy Birthday songs and wearing crowns. If you would like to celebrate further, we will celebrate all birthdays for the month on the last Friday of the month.
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students
All students may eat breakfast free of charge. If you bring your child to school and plan on eating breakfast please be here by 7:50. The morning meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. and our instructional day begins promptly at 8:16 a.m.
You are welcome to come eat lunch with your child. We eat at 11:00; an adult lunch costs $3.00.
Please keep a change of clothes in your child’s backpack during the year. Place the clothes in a Ziploc bag (including underwear and socks) labeled with your child’s name in case of emergencies.
I will be sending home a newsletter on Mondays. Please keep your eye out for it! It will be filled with important information about our class.
Please be sure to read with your child EVERY night! There is no better way to improve reading skills!!
We will be having snack time each to help keep us focused on learning. You may also send an individual healthy snack for your child in his backpack daily, until the after school feeding meal begins. This is free for students, but no food from the meal can go home.
Safety is our primary concern. If your child is going home a different way than what has been filed, you MUST write a note stating the change.
There are many ways for you to be involved in our class, no matter what your daily schedule may be. If you plan on volunteering in the classroom you must fill out a volunteer form.
Your child should get plenty of sleep each night. We have a very full day at school, and therefore Kindergarteners needs plenty of sleep.
