In Art I, students will explore art forms and create individual works of art. Students will examine the language, materials, media, processes of art forms and the elements of art and principles of design supporting works of art. Although the focus is on creation, inclusion of the study and analysis of major artists, art movements, and styles is included in this course. Students will also explore career opportunities in the art world. This class will be conducted primarily as a studio. You will work independently on art as I circulate among you to advise, help, and encourage your work.
What do I need for class?

Your artwork may be displayed both within the school and in public settings.
I will hold extended school weekly on an as needed basis. There will be a sign up sheet in class. This is a great way to catch up on projects if you have been absent from school.
Everyone can succeed in ART! Your grade is largely based on how well you follow instructions for each project and how much EFFORT you put into it.
**Art can be MESSY! We have aprons available to wear during projects, but please dress appropriately. You can bring an apron or t-shirt to wear over your clothes for projects.
