Syllabus

In Art I, students will explore art forms and create individual works of art.  Students will examine the language, materials, media, processes of art forms and the elements of art and principles of design supporting works of art.  Although the focus is on creation, inclusion of the study and analysis of major artists, art movements, and styles is included in this course.   Students will also explore career opportunities in the art world.  This class will be conducted primarily as a studio.  You will work independently on art as I circulate among you to advise, help, and encourage your work.

What do I need for class?
Pencil and chromebook
$15 Material Fee – due by August 31, 2017
This fee will be used to purchase items such as canvas, paint, clay, glazes, pastels, papers, and other materials used in the art room throughout the semester.  The fee is payable within the classroom and may be done in installments.

Art Projects
Students are given approximately 5-15 classes to complete a project, depending on the complexity of the assigned task.  If the majority of the class needs more time, the due date will be extended.  After the due date, all work in class will stop.  If you need to complete the assignment, it may be taken home or can be worked on after school during ESS.  All work must be submitted within the 9 weeks it was assigned to receive credit.
