LES SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Here are the GUIDELINES for the LES Summer Reading Challenge:

  • Students will read at least 6 books over the summer.
  • They will then complete a reflection in LRJ (Literacy Response Journal) format in the provided composition book. Each entry must include book title, author, and a response (For young children this can be a sentence or even a drawing. Books read aloud by parents count.).
  • Students can choose to read the free books or books of their own choice.
  • Students that complete the required reading and writing this summer (at least 6 books) will be able to participate in our READING CELEBRATION cookout and receive a free t-shirt showing their accomplishment.
  • Students will return the completed LRJ's to their classroom teachers upon returning to school this August. Students must use neat handwriting and appropriate spacing. Classroom teachers will look over these and record the student's name and number of entries on a form given out the first week of school.

If the challenge of reading 1000 books is met, remember Ms. Royse gets to bring her bed to school and read ALL DAY. You will certainly want to meet that challenge! smiley  Read! Read! Read!!!
