It may not have been the actual first days of school, but for many of us it certainly felt that way as we have welcomed students back into our buildings this week.

Perhaps more than any other year, we feel it’s important to regularly communicate with our families. With that in mind, we wanted to share a few important pieces of information concerning our return to In-Person learning:

* This week will be considered a grace period for those who still may have reservations about committing to In-Person or Distance-Learning. In other words, you can still decide to join In-Person learning this week even if your child participated in Distance-Learning earlier this week. Starting next week (Monday, September 14) students who are enrolled in Distance-Learning can return to In-Person learning at specified re-entry dates. Those dates are:

Wednesday, September 23

Wednesday, November 4

Monday, December 7

Monday, January 25

Monday, February 22

Monday, March 22

Monday, April 26

* All students will receive a Parental Assurances form this week that outlines the daily student health assessments parents are expected to perform prior to sending their children to school. The form also includes information specific to MCPS transportation. Please look over that form before signing. It will need to be returned to your child’s school.

You can find an electronic copy of this form, along with several other important MCPS transportation documents here.

* MCPS Athletics Director Mike Holt has released information concerning attending athletic events and ticket sales. There will be a limited number of tickets available. You can view that information here.

* MCPS continues to work very closely with our regional health department regarding COVID-19 and one of our goals is to clearly communicate to families when we have a positive case among our students or staff.

When we have a confirmed positive case, we’ll send an email to the families of the affected school. However, you can access all of our COVID-19 communications on our district website here.

Our regional health department will then conduct the contact tracing.

Our email database is based on information entered in Infinite Campus; if you’re having an issue with receiving emails, contact your child’s school to update email information entered in Infinite Campus.
