Hello and happy 2021!! I spent quite a bit of time virtually observing classes this week. Even though I miss seeing students' faces, it was great to "step in" to their classrooms and see them learning. Kids were learning ratios in math, discussing adaptations in science, collaborating in "breakout" rooms in English, and pushing themselves physically in PE. I even participated (I had to "phone a friend" in science) and my youngest enjoyed doing the PE stretches with me.

Here are your announcements for next week. Have a great Friday!

Announcements from the Office
MCPS will remain on virtual learning the week of January 11th. Friday, Jan 15th, will be an NTI day.

If your child is having Chromebook issues, please contact Cheryl May at (270) 692-4578 or cheryl.may@marion.kyschools.us. Mrs. May can solve most issues over the phone.

Please check Infinite Campus regularly. It has the most accurate information on grades and/or missing assignments.

Excalibur Social Studies- Any student needing to take a test from an earlier unit needs to schedule a time with Mr. Gilbert. Our daily Google meets are the best time for this.

Excalibur house - All Google classroom and Remind codes are listed on Excalibur's webpage. Go to Maron County Middle School's webpage, click "Menu," scroll down to the bottom and click "School Links," then click on "Excalibur's Webpage."

Camelot Social Studies with Ms. Cobb - We will start a new unit on India next week.

Merlin ELA - We have been studying character perspective and learning how to identify the different types of point of views. We will continue our study next week with the goal of better understanding of how a story develops from the perspective of the character.

6th grade math, both houses - We are working on ratios/rates/unit rates/measurement conversions.

Chorus students have been learning the song "Trust, Hope & Love." By Friday, January 15th, students need to have an audio or video recording submitted in FlipGrid or through email. Mr. Christopher's email address is john.christopher@marion.kyschools.us. You can contact him if you have any questions about the class. He's really looking forward to hearing the recordings. He hopes to combine the top vocal recordings into a single performance recording this semester.
