Hello and happy Friday! Right after I send this, I am headed outside to make a snowman with my kids. I admit, I wished for a good snow so they could sled and build a snowman.... but I'm over it now! I'm ready for the sun, the flowers, and most definitely, being able to have kids in our building again. Our custodians worked hard this week to clear our parking lots and sidewalks. We can't wait to see our kids next week!

7th grade parents - MCKA spoke with our 7th graders on Tuesday about their exploratory options for next year and explained how to complete their scheduling cards. Students can watch videos that describe their options at this website https://sites.google.com/marion.kyschools.us/mcka/2021-2022-schedule.
They are then to complete a scheduling from available on an ILP Google Classroom. If there are questions, please email MCKA's counselor Veronica Brown at veronica.brown@marion.kyschools.us. Please be sure your child does this! They get 3 exploratory classes next year and there are so many options!
Picture Day for Group A is Monday, February 22nd! Virtual students can come between 1:00-2:00.
Reading Without Limits Poster Contest! As part of our Reading Celebration, we are inviting students to enter a poster contest with the theme "Reading Without Limits." The poster is due March 5th. It can be completed on any 2D (flat) media. There will be school and district level winners. Submit your poster to Mrs. Cheryl May!
Food Distribution - MCPS is passing out food tomorrow, Saturday, from 1:00-3:00, at all schools except Marion County Middle. If your children only attend our school, please go to the school nearest you to receive food. Each child gets 10 meals! That's a lot of milk you don't have to fight for at the grocery. :)

Congratulations to Josie Essex! She placed 4th in the science competition at Kentucky State Jr Beta Convention. This qualifies her to compete at nationals in Orlando this summer!
Costa Rice Trip Fundraiser - Enjoy some Mexican food at La Fuente in Springfield on Tuesday, March 2nd, after 3:00 pm to support our 2022 Costa Rice Trip participants! La Fuente is located beside the Springfield Five Star gas station. We are anticipating a fundraiser at the Lebanon location this spring!

Merlin Science - There is a test over Structure of Matter next week. Study guides were finished today.
Camelot Science with Mrs Wood - We have our Structure of Matter test on Tuesday. We will review on Monday.
Reading with Mrs. Wood - We will continue our novel study on "The Dead and the Gone" starting chapter 7 on Monday.
6th grade ELA (both houses) - We will continue to work on nonfiction text features. We will take our February flashback at the end of the week.
6th grade math (both houses) - We will begin our Order of Operations unit with a possible test Friday.
PE - Test next Friday over fitness components.
7th grade Social Studies (both houses) - We will continue our march around Medieval Asia. We will be finishing up in Japan and beginning looking into what was happening in China during the Middle Ages.
7th grade Science (both houses) - We are continuing to learn about kinetic and potential energy. Students are working through their playlist.
