MCPS Mask Policy

Currently, masks are required for students and staff.

The following mask policy was approved at the November 4 Marion County Board of Education meeting. You can view the entire MCPS Return-to-School Plan here.

•MCPS will review the COVID-19 Incidence Rate for Marion County as reported by the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

When the Incidence Rate is below 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be recommended -- not required -- for students and staff.

When the Incidence Rate for Marion County is at or above 50 for seven consecutive days, masking will be required of students and staff.

•Based on federal requirements for public transportation, all students and staff will be required to wear a mask while on an MCPS bus unless otherwise exempted (e.g. cannot wear a mask due to a disability).

•MCPS masking policies do not apply to the Area Technology Center, which is a state-run facility.

•Students participating in the Test-to-Stay program are required to wear a mask while at school regardless of the district's masking policy.

•Students who are medically exempt from wearing a mask will need to provide a doctor’s note for their school.
