Six MCHS students accepted to Governor's Scholars Program

Six Marion County High School juniors have been selected to attend the prestigious Governor’s Scholars Program this summer.

Those students are: Jasmine Farmer, William Knight IV, Kayla Lancaster, Michael Masterson, Lyda Montgomery, and Kaylee Spalding.

The summer residential program invites students to live and learn on one of three college campuses: Centre College, Morehead St. University, or Bellarmine University. The students have yet to be informed of their location for the summer.

Marion County Public Schools Instructional Coach and Gifted and Talented Consultant Laurie Followell works with students during the GSP application process. Listen below as Followell discusses the obstacles this year’s applicants faced, how the experience will help them, and how helping students apply to GSP has become an important initiative in MCPS.
