POSTPONED

The Shining a Light on Mental Health regional summit originally scheduled for September 11 at Marion County High School has been postponed until at least the spring of 2022 due to COVID-19.

“We’re still very hopeful that we can make this event a reality -- we had everything in order, but the current situation with COVID-19 in our community really made it difficult to move forward,” MCPS Director of Exceptional Child Education Dr. Traci Sharpe said. “We still believe in the importance of having this event and helping educate our community on mental health.”

The daylong summit included keynote speaker Jason Gibson, director of the Babb Center in Hendersonville, TN, as well as a lineup of presenters throughout the day with sessions focusing on mental health.

According to Sharpe, those who registered to attend will receive an email with additional information.

“I hope that when we are able to have this event we’ll have the strong turnout we were expecting,” Sharpe said.
