cell phones

Many of you receive text message notifications from both the school district and your child’s school. Starting next week, you’ll notice that those messages will come from a different number (98900). Feel free to save it in your contacts. You’ll also receive an option to opt-out of receiving these messages -- we encourage you not to do so because text messaging is one way that MCPS communicates important information.  If you opt-out but later decide you want to receive messages again, you can simply reply 'START' to the 98900 number and you will start receiving them again.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

There's nothing students or parents need to do when this change occurs. You will still receive text message alerts from MCPS, but they will be associated with a different number.

WHY THE CHANGE IN NUMBER?

Some cell phone carriers are making changes to reduce the amount of spam messages their customers receive. To help ensure that messages from MCPS aren’t flagged as spam, our messaging service provider needed to make adjustments that included a new number.

NOT RECEIVING MESSAGES/PHONE CALLS?

All of the student and parent contact information (phone numbers, email addresses) comes from information families provide each year when they complete online registration. If you are a parent and are not receiving messages or calls, please contact your child’s school to update your contact information in Infinite Campus.
