band

The band competed Saturday, October 23rd in Berea at the Class AA East Regional, hosted by Madison Southern High School (https://kyband.com/event/class-aa-east-regional/).

Their stellar performance earned them the following:

  • KMEA Distinguished Rating. This is a hard-won distinction awarded to a band receiving a score at/above 80 at a KMEA-sanctioned marching contest. This is the first time since 2013 that Marion County has earned this distinction! (https://kyband.com/mb/kmea-distinguished-ratings/)
  • Advancement to the October 30 KMEA Class AA Semifinal, hosted by Bryan Station High School in Lexington (https://kyband.com/event/kmea-class-aa-semifinal/).  Depending how they score, the MC Knight Band could go on that same night to the KMEA State Marching Band Championships at UK Kroger Field (https://kyband.com/)

Listen: MCPS Director of Bands Daniel Beams discusses the marching band's performance and the excitement around the program.
