At Marion County Middle School, students who show good behavior or academic improvement receive a unique opportunity -- a chance to shop. This year the school has implemented a system where students receive payment in the form of "Knight Bucks" which can be used to purchase prizes and treats in the school's Shield Shop.
Classes visit the Shield Shop on scheduled days throughout the school year and students can purchase candy, snacks, T-shirts, or a variety of other prizes using their accumulated reward bucks. The visits to the shop also serve as a small break from class as students are given time to play games or socialize.
