ATHLETIC EVENTS CANCELED DUE TO COVID-19
Two Marion County High School athletics events have been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation in a neighboring county.
Tonight’s girls soccer match versus Taylor County High School and tomorrow night’s volleyball match, also against TCHS, have been cancelled. According to information from the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, Taylor County is experiencing a critical level of COVID-19 community spread.
According to Marion County High School Athletics Director Michael Holt, both contests will be rescheduled.

Lebanon Elementary School has a job opening available for a custodian. Please share this information with anyone who may be interested.
You can view all MCPS job openings here: https://www.applitrack.com/marionky/onlineapp/

MCPS families:
With students returning to In-Person learning this week, we wanted to share with you how we'll communicate information about positive cases of COVID-19 among our students and staff. First, when we learn of a confirmed positive, we'll send an email to the families at the affected school with the appropriate information.
We'll also keep a record of all communications on our district website here: https://www.marion.kyschools.us/Content2/covid19
We won't identify students, staff members, or particular classes. Only those considered close contacts will receive a follow-up from the regional health department's contact tracers.
Also, keep in mind that our email database is based on information entered into Infinite Campus during online registration. Contact your child's school if you need to update your contact information.

Reminder: Distance-Learning students can choose to come to In-Person school tomorrow as a part of our week one grace period. Starting Monday, Sept. 14, students enrolled in Distance-Learning wanting to transition to In-Person must do so at the next available re-entry date. Those dates are:
Wednesday, September 23
Wednesday, November 4
Monday, December 7
Monday, January 25
Monday, February 22
Monday, March 22
Monday, April 26

As many of you have noticed, MCPS is using new communication tools. We’re still sending out voice messages, but we’ve added the ability to send out text messages as well. If you receive a text message from the school district or from your child’s school and would prefer to opt-out, simply reply to the text with ‘STOP’. You can always opt back in by replying with ‘START’.
You can help us with our communication efforts by completing the annual online registration to make sure your contact information is accurate in Infinite Campus -- this is where our call list information comes from. If you haven’t completed online registration for the 2020-2021 school year, start by visiting this site: https://www.marion.kyschools.us/Content2/20654
Also, with our new voice messaging system, when you receive a call, say “Hello” which will trigger the message. Otherwise, you might notice a short delay before the message begins.
We also encourage parents to include an up-to-date email address in Infinite Campus as well. There may be times throughout the year when MCPS or an individual school provides updates or information via mass email.
If you’re having problems with our new communication tools, please complete our Communication Issues form here: https://forms.gle/v6HZNPRT4DB6cebGA
Later this year, we’ll also move to a new redesigned website that will make finding information and school-related news much easier. Along with our new website, there will also be a mobile app available for download, which will make accessing that information even more convenient.
And as always, we’ll continue to provide information on our social media pages as well as news releases sent to local media outlets.

This form includes information on how we'll distribute meals to our students while operating on Distance-Learning.

6th graders can contact Daniel Beams at daniel.beams@marion.kyschools.us for information on joining band.

With all MCPS students enrolled in Distance-Learning to begin the school year, we wanted to share our food service plan for providing meals for our students. This plan is similar to the plan we implemented in the spring, but has some very important differences.
First, we’re asking parents to fill out our online Meal Package Order Form by 8:00 pm on Monday of each week. You can access that form here: https://forms.gle/kAZVwRh4UpNiosBx8 This form will provide us with important information to help the meal distribution go as smoothly as possible.
On each Thursday, we will distribute meal bundles from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at each of our schools. We’re also taking meals via bus to one off-campus site (Brookhaven). These meal bundles will include five breakfasts and five lunches per MCPS student.
When you show up at one of our feeding sites, you’ll be asked to provide a valid ID so that we can verify the correct person is collecting meals. We’re also asking that you pick up meals at your child’s school. However, if you have multiple children, you can collect all meals at one site.
Unlike in the spring, we can only distribute meals for students enrolled in MCPS. This is because we have yet to receive a waiver from the USDA which would allow us to provide meals to all children. If this changes, we’ll be sure to share that information with you as soon as possible.
When students have the option to return to in-person learning, we’ll make adjustments to our feeding plan and share that information with you as well.
