DID YOU KNOW: Because MCPS installed energy-efficient geothermal equipment at the new Calvary Elementary and because the equipment was American-made, the district received a rebate in excess of $1.8 million.
Those funds will now be put to use to help fund new playground equipment at all of the district’s elementary schools including adding a poured-in-place rubber surface, which is safer and more handicap and wheelchair accessible.
At the most recent Board of Education meeting, representatives from CMTA presented the district with a ceremonial check for the rebate.
